Tirta Empul Temple – Tampak Siring Temple, a Sacred Holy Spring Temple

History of Tirta Empul Temple
The local people believe that the creation of Tirta Empul involves the legend of an epic battle between a wicked king that has a powerful magical power named Mayadenawa and the God Indra. Furthermore, they believe that the place was made by the God Indra in order to heal his soldiers poisoned by Mayadenawa. In 10 century, King Indrajayasinghawarmadewa managed the place into sacred Hindu temple and the spring used to be a place for purification.
